Official Chat Box Rules

The chatbox has various code you can use to do cool things on the chat. I will re post what The Detonator has posted here. I modified the post a bit to make it easier to understand.

Mod Controls

/clear Delete the messages from the Chatbox

/cls Same as the '/clear' command

/ban Ban a member from the Chatbox. This command must be followed by the username to ban. (ex: /ban username). Once the user is banned, he/she won't see neither have access to the Chatbox.

/unban To unban a user from the Chatbox. Its use is identical to ban (ex: /unban nickname)

/kick Disconnect a member from the Chatbox. The command must be followed by the username to disconnect (ex: /kick username). Disconnecting a user won't prevent him from reconnecting.

/banlist Displays a Pop-up menu displaying all currently banned users from the chatbox. You may also unban them from this menu



Member Controls

/me In the beginning of a sentence, this command will be replaced by your username (ex: /me eats a delicious pizza" will display "Nickname eats a delicious pizza")

/exit Disconnect from the Chatbox. You can also precise the reason that will be visible for all members connected (ex: /exit reason)

/abs Send a message noticing that you're absent. You can add a reason that will be displayed in the message and visible by all members connected to the Chatbox (ex: /abs reason)
/pm: username: message Send a private message to a user that only they can see! A message will pop up saying you sent a private message.

NOTE: Only people with an "@" next to their name can use the Mod Controls.

Official Chat Box Rules

Swearing:

We all know it's not allowed, but what is and what isn't exactly. Some say this isn't too offensive, so we can use some official rules on that.

1. Occasional swearing from members is fine as long as it's directed at no one, but excessive isn't allowed.
   
   * NOTE: Do not swear more than once. Seriously, you have been warned. Offensive language will result in a warning and a kick. Further abuse will result in a ban from the chat. You can swear occasionally, but abusing this will get you banned. Using multiple swears in one sentence or combining it with offensive words,etc. will result in a ban.
   
   
2. Staff shouldn't be Swearing. Let's be Professional.
   
   
3. If Staff excessively Swears, members will feel that the Staff is above the Law, so keep the language in check.

It should go without saying that any Sexual Terms are banned from the Chat, whether it's the Human Anatomy or Not.

Trolling:

Now, there's such thing as Fun, and then there's just being a Jerk. We know Trolling isn't already allowed, but once again, not in full detail of what is allowed and what's not, cause Joker's can be confused with Trolls.

1. Making Jokes about a Situation is one thing, but there's a thing called going too far when messing with someone.
   
   
2. If you're not Friends with the person, never try to Troll then, it doesn't have good results.
   
   
3. Never get personal, but that should go without saying.
   
   
4. Do not bash people because of your Personal Beliefs.
   
   
5. Do not try to start a fight by provoking other members.

Always think about how far your Joke is going before posting it. If you have doubts, don't do it.

Media in the Chat

Media is a Daily Thing in the chat, but we all know that too much of it makes the Chat Lag, and will end up resulting in a Clear. Once again, we need some details of what Media is allowed and what's not, and how to do it.

1. Videos are allowed, but not with the Video Code, just post the Link.
   
   
2. Videos posted with the Link is banned, one Video is enough to ruin the chat with terrible lag, not to mention it takes up the whole screen.
   
   
3. Pictures with links and image code are both allowed.
   
   
4. Although Image Code is fine, some are far too big for the chat, and too much of it will cause bad Lag. So do not post big pictures, and not too many normal ones.
   
   
5. Offensive Pictures are Banned. Think before you post.
   
   
6. Emoticons from other sites are completely fine, but size still matters.
   
   
7. Moving Emoticons are fine as well as long as they are kept small in size.
   
   
8. Animated gif images can screw up the chat. Please refrain from spamming them. Small emoticon ones are allowed, obnoxious ones are not.

Media in the Chat is going to always be in the Chat, so to keep the Chat from being Clear every so often, these Rules are needed.

Spamming:

I shouldn't have to say much about this, but if I must...

1. Do not keep posting the same links to whatever you're linking us to.
   
   
2. Do not spam by posting meaningless things over and over.
   
   
3. Do not repeatedly post pictures, it won't allow people to read other post.
   
   
4. Do not fill the whole screen with mindless whatever, it's a no no!

Last but not least, things everyone should know:

1. There should be no links to Porn and Malicious Sites, that will lead to a Ban on that Person, and if it was Staff, Demotion and Banned.
   
   
2. When you make a Ruling when a person breaks a Rule, they are not to argue back, if they want an answer why, simple tell them and that's it.
   
   
3. There should be no debate about it being a dumb rule, members like that are just Trolls and shouldn't be on the Chatbox if they can't follow rules.
