Magic Cylinder would go back to being face down on the field as it was an illegal activation with an easily repairable game state.

Also, since it was not able to be activated at that time it is to be put face-down. If this was not the case I could do this:

Drop veiler on my turn.... whoops didn't mean to do that I guess it stays there now. Drop BLS by banishing Veiler.
