Junk Collector
This is junk collector.
During either player's turn: You can banish this face-up card you control and 1 Normal Trap Card from your Graveyard; activate the effect of the banished Trap Card as this card's effect.
Couple questions.
1. I I have junk collector and I activate his effect to target chain healing and we are at chain link 2-3, will it return to my deck or be banished?
2. As a chain link 4, would it return to my hand?
3. If so, what would return junk collector or chain healing?

Re: Junk Collector
Junk Collector will use the same effect as Chain Healing.
Although, the effect of Chain Healing refers to "this card", which is meant to be THE ONE CARD NAMED Chain Healing WHICH IS RIGHT NOW ON THE FIELD.
I'd say that Junk Collector will NOT return to the deck/hand.

this makes no sense to me =/ but if so, I'll be sad.[EP] Irate wrote:Junk Collector will use the same effect as Chain Healing.

Re: Junk Collector
Well, the thing is, that Chain Healing should only return to the deck/hand while face-up, at resolution of the effect.
And the same thing applies to JC.
But, let's call TamB to this topic, then.

It won't return to the deck. I'll explain later why

Re: Junk Collector
After more research, I found that Junk Collector has issues with the words "this Card".
you don't activate "junk Collector" as a card, you activate it as a monster effect.
Similar to why it doesn't mix well with Blast with Chain, and the like.
So no, it will not let you return it to the hand/deck, and you can't use its effect on chain link 2 or higher.

Re: Junk Collector
Wait you can't even use the effect as a chain link 2 or higher? Like even if I tried to use junk collector for accumulated fortune, which requires a chain link 4, I couldn't do it even if I am on that chain link?

Re: Junk Collector
This is "probably" the case, but there are no real rulings about Junk Collector and chain Healing.
Since Chain healing does not give you the choice at chain link 2 or higher (as it WILL try to return to the Deck/Hand), which is something junk collector cannot do, then in all likelihood it probably cannot even be activated.
The easiest way to resolve this issue is email konami.
But from what we know, Junk Collector has problems with the "Activating this CARD" part of certain trap cards.

Re: Junk Collector
Probably has something to do with Junk Collector's spell speed on the effect. Odds are I would say that it is Spell Speed 1, since I have not looked it up, meaning that it cant chain to anything.

Re: Junk Collector
Junk Collector's effect is Quick Effect, and the reason for the debate is the card itself isn't activate, only the effect, that's why no card is return to hand.

Re: Junk Collector
Most simple would be to say that it needs to be face up. I remember the instance where this card got destroyed by MST Before it resolved it remained in grave. So it needs to resolve while still on field to be returned to deck.

Re: Junk Collector
And we have yet another reason why Chain Healing will not go back to hand/deck...
I say we have a rare slam dunk.

well, when a card is determined to be destroyed, typically it cannot do much else but go to the graveyard.
But yeah, although the reason isn't 100% clear due to lack of rulings, it most likely will not return to the deck unless konami issues a ruling stating otherwise.
Based on what we do know about how Junk Collector not working well with the phrase "this card".

Re: Junk Collector
Awww, then it wouldn't return ... alright...
But, could I still use it as chain? or would it have to be chain 1 no matter what?
For example, accumulated fortune, needs to be chain link 4, could I activate it if it was in the grave with Junk collector, so long as I'm on chain link 3 already?

Re: Junk Collector
If the trap card has a requirement like Accumulated Fortune or Torrential Tribute, you can only use Collector to activate that card if the requirement is met. So if it would be chain link 4, you can use Accumulated Fortune through Junk Collector, so I see it.

Re: Junk Collector
That is correct, although Junk Collector only takes the effects, it still has to meet the requirement of the Trap Card.

Junk collector can chain. it is spell speed 2, (a quick effect).
The reasons why it probably isn't able to activate by banishing chain healing is because chain healing will try to return somewhere (hand or dack) after chain link 2.
The problem is is that Chain Healing uses the phrase, "If this card was activated (at chain link X)". Junk Collector is a monster. Monster Cards do not activate. Hence, Junk Collector cannot copy Chain healing, atleast for chain link 2 or higher where this contradiction occurs.
Accumulated fortune is different, since it is required to activate at chain link 4 or higher. It doesn't try to return itself to the deck or hand or anything. So as long as it is Chain link 4, or higher, you can use Junk Collector to copy Accumulated Fortune.
The easiest way to get an explicit answer is to email konami, because there are no rulings regarding Junk Collector interacting with chain healing.

Re: Junk Collector
Interesting... there isn't much about Junk Collector...
how would he interact with XYZ reborn... would he become the material? or..
Target 1 Xyz Monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it, and attach this card to that target as its Xyz Material.
I'll change the title to Junk Collector.

Re: Junk Collector
I would assume you could not use junk collector with Xyz reborn, since junk collector cannot place itself under the Xyz monster.
However, konami can just issue one of their BKSS. Its really better to ask them, only because we have, as you said, little to work with. Junk collector is not even out in the tcg after all.

Re: Junk Collector
I see...'well I really like the card it can be very cool to get it late game when you got a bunch of traps in your grave and he then can become quite a nuisance to get rid of with the right array of traps in the grave.
Supposedly you can't negate it's effect through stuff that stops spell/trap cards cause it's still a monster effect, which is awesome.

Re: Junk Collector
I don't know if this helps, but looking at Fake Feather with stuff like Kunai with Chain, Fake Feather doesn't become the equip card and doesn't stay on the field. So I'm assuming Collector doesn't either.

Re: Junk Collector
Yeah i was sorta looking into that... Saw that you could use only the effect of kunai, but not the equip part, so I'm assuming the xyz would be revived but, wouldn't get a material....
So basically what I'm guessing is that junk collector HAS to be removed no matter what, and long as the part of it staying on the field isn't mandatory, it would still trigger the part of the effect that can be triggered, so horn of the phantom beast, couldn't be activated through his effect, cause it has to become an equip
Before it can do anything...
