Stardust vs. Mystical Space Typhoon

I see people making fun of this ruling all the time... But I never fully understood it myself. So, could someone please tell me what is so funny about this ruling, and why it does or doesn't negate/destroy it?

I guess I just don't understand why people make fun of this ruling. Do some people think it can't negate MST? I saw it on the forum somewhere, but I just can't remember where.

It does negate
please read both of the cards.
This is the same Speech i give with tengu/skill drain issues.
Read what each does, take 5minutes, process it, and then remember it.

Anyway there is no reason why Stardust Can't negate MST.

Stardust does negate MST with no problems, but what's funny about Stardust's ruling in general is that if it's effect is negated by lets say Skill Drain, and your opponent uses lets say MST, Stardust will still tribute itself and negate MST. This is simply because when Stardust tributes itself, that is a cost (which can't be negated by Effect-nullification) in which it's eff activates in the grave, which negates MST in this case. I don't know if this was the answer you were looking for or anything like that, but I digress.

Stardust activates on the field. The card itself has to be face-up for Skill Drain to negate it. Stardust is no longer on the field, but the effect is still activating and resolving on the field.

Guys, the only reason I asked was because someone was making fun of it somewhere... Which led me to question what the card originally said, and it's ruling. I understand, yes, this may be common sense, and I deserve every one of these comments, but it was just that one comment that was said that I can't seem to find that had me questioning why it was made fun of, and if it couldn't do it. Would I think so? Yes I would. But when I say I never fully understood it myself in the original post, I hopped on the bus that made fun of that ruling in that one thread, and joked about it without fully understanding why it was made of. That was the basis for my question.

Stardust can negate MST, sometime I use mst to destroy any spell/trap card on field, then negate it stardust effect to protect stardust being destroyed, LOL

me too the problem is when your opponent has less than 2 brain cells

when you chain mst to prison when you att with stardust they tell you 'mst cant negate ' and leave before giving you chance to say anything or i ask after using mst 'any chains?' and calls me 'noob' and leaves
