About attacked face-down Gachi Gachi Gantetsu

Hi,

I controlled a face-down Gachi Gachi Gantetsu with some xyz material monsters. My opponant attacks it.

1) Does Gachi Gachi gains defense due to its effect durong damage calculation ?

2) Can Gachi Gachi protect itself from being destroyed by battle by detaching a Xyz material monsters ?

The Gachi has the same defense gain and protection effect as if it were face-up.

What Red Chaos was trying to say here is that, when Gachi Gachi Gantetsu is attacked he is flipped Face-Up before you perform damage calculation(Compare ATK and DEF of the monsters) So since Gachi is continous effect it will gain attack boost based on number of its materials and can also detatch a material in case Gachi would be destroyed by that battle.

Continuous effects are applied once the monster is put face-up on the field, same reason why Jinzo can't be trap holed. Once the card is flipped face-up, it's continuous effect is applied.
