Pegasus Rules

So after watching some old school season 1, I have devised some rules on how to play pegasus rules for fun with a friend, if you ever feel inclined to do something different.

1. Each player starts with 2000 life points.
2. You can only attack your opponent directly if they didn't attempt to summon anything during their previous turn.
3. Level 5 and up monsters can be summoned without tribute so long as the effect don't require tributes.
4. Your deck must contain one or more card(s) that would be the strongest card in the deck of one of the characters that went to Duelist Kingdom. For example, Dark Magician from Yugi's deck. Red-eyes Black Dragon from Joey/Rex Raptor's deck. Harpie's Pet Dragon/Blue eyes/Thousand Eyes Restrict.. etc. This is so that you can play the role of one of the characters.
5. Once per duel, each player can use the heart of the cards to choose the card that they draw during their draw phase, as if they actually used the heart of the cards to force the card they need to the top of the deck by shear will. If your deck is exclusively a starter deck, you can use the heart of the cards twice. If you are using the yugi starter deck, you can use the heart of the cards thrice, but you cannot use it two turns in a row, or on your first turn.
6. Field cards that increase/decrease the ATK/DEF of monsters modify the attack and defense of monsters by 30%, rather than the written value on the card. For example, Mountain increases the attack of dragons, winged-beasts, and thunder type monsters by 200 points, but in Pegasus rules, it increases their attack by 30%. Thus, blue-eyes white dragon wouldn't have 3200 attack in the mountain field, but rather 3900 (3000 + 30%).
7. Players should make an attempt to use mostly only cards from the first 4 starter decks (yugi/joey/kiaba/pegasus), the first few Structure Decks, and the first 9 booster packs (Legend of blue eyes/Magic Ruler/Metal Raiders/Pharaoh's Servant/Labyrinth of Nightmare/Legacy of Darkness/Pharaonic Guardian/Magician's Force/Dark Crisis).
8. Synchro and Xyz are not allowed.

List of cards that you probably shouldn't use:
1. Magic Cylinder - Duh. Instant win.
2. Tremendous Fire - half your opponents life points with a magic card.
3. Raigeki - too powerful, never used in the anime.
4. Any card like Soul Exchange - because it involves tributes.

Cards who's effect are different. I'm bad with correct card grammar, so sorry about that.
1. Magical Hats - Lasts until all hats are destroyed, or until the hidden monster is found, or when the controller of magical hats decides to reveal his hidden monster.
2. Crush Card - works forever until the card is destroyed. Does not stop working after 3 turns.
3. Mystic Box - This is now a quickplay spell card that can only be activated when you have a dark magician on the field and it is sent to the graveyard by spell/trap/monster effect/battle (basically for any reason). Dark Magician stays on the field and the card that compromised the life of Dark Magician is destroyed and the effect is negated. This is how it was used throughout the entire anime.
4. All Toon Monsters - They have varying effects, but they all become the following: "This card can only be summoned and remain on the field if toon world is active on your side of the field. This monster cannot be destroyed by battle." There are no tributes required for their summon. They can all attack the turn they are played. All effects unique to individual toon monsters do not apply.
5. Makiu, The Magical Myst (Thanks to Lyoko15 for the clarification) - "Select and activate 1 or all of the following effects:
●Until the End Phase, negate any ATK increases for Machine-Type monsters and Damage Steps.
●Select 1 "Summoned Skull" or Thunder-Type monster you control. It gains 1000 ATK.
●Negate an attack from a monster your opponent controls. You can use this effect during either player's turn."
6. Time Wizard - If you call the coin successfully, you do not need to use polymerization to summon Thousand dragon as long as baby dragon is face-up on the field. Baby dragon simply becomes Thousand Dragon.

Post any additions you think there should be. This is all theoretical.

I thought that Makiu was a normal spell in the anime, since Yugi also used it in his duel with Joey with the effect of Dark Sage. Also according to the wikia:

English Anime
Select and activate 1 or all of the following effects:
●Until the End Phase, negate any ATK increases for Machine-Type monsters and Damage Steps.
●Select 1 "Summoned Skull" or Thunder-Type monster you control. It gains 1000 ATK.
●Negate an attack from a monster your opponent controls. You can use this effect during either player's turn.

But I really like this idea. A friend and I made an old school deck recently, so it would be fun to really use it

While I agree that some rules are weird, it's mostly about the appreciation of how yugioh was played because all the rules were really devised and thought out. Playing by these rules is purely for childhood reminiscent memories.

I meant to say that the rules weren't very well devised and thought out. They didn't actually make the rules concrete until Battle City.

Lol, Yugi cheats more than Key does, which is saying something.

4Kids screws up the anime.

He didn't cheat. At the time of duelist kingdom, there were different rules. There were so much fewer cards. The creators of the game didn't quite know what it would become.

Shows that some people can't divorce the ideas of an anime VS. the real card game. It's true because people do the same thing with movies and books. For example, Harry Potter. A lot of the fans of the Harry Potter books refuse to watch the movies because it isn't an exact representation of the book. The truth is that the movie puts the idea of Harry Potter in a new setting and environment. The directors of Harry Potter should be able to portray their own artful interpretation of Harry Potter without receiving negative criticism for it. That's what art is. This is the same idea. You can't expect the anime to be perfect. If it was, people wouldn't watch it like it was a cartoon, they'd watch it like it was the discovery channel, which is not what it was intended to be.

I love the fact that the life points start off at two thousand. If that were implemented in DN, there would be a lot of RAGE floating about.
