Noob Question

say I have a card that says something like this. "This card cannot attack the turn you activate this effect." I attack with said card then in M2 can I use it's effect? I obviously wouldn't be able to attack if i used it in M1 but the occurence is reversed if i use it in M2 so i just want to be sure.

You would not be able to use that effect. Since your monster attacked during that turn (and MP2 is still the same turn) the effect cannot be used (since you attacked). You declared an attack with it that turn, so you cannot use it's effect since activating it would mean using it's effect the same turn it attacked.

This comparison is very apt. Infact any effect like this works the same. "You cannot ____ the turn you activate this card/effect". When you see this phrase it means that the "______" action cannot under any circumstance be performed at any time during that turn (before or after the card would be activated) for you to be able to activate the card/effect.

Tips:

I know, but you mentioned future fusion. Future fusion is not summoning anything during the turn it activated. So it's not exactly an exception to the case.

There are some exceptions to this, where the card explicitly states that the action can not be done AFTERWARDS. (Like Creature Swap)
