'The protagonist of this story, Sendo Aichi, is a timid boy in his third year of middle school. He had been living his life looking backward rather than forward, trying not to stand out. However, he had one thing that kept him going - the "Blaster Blade," a card from a card game that was given to him when he was little. That card is the reason why he begins to engage in Card Fights, something that changes his life drastically.
The name of the card game is "Vanguard." The game takes place in a different planet called "Klay," and due to a never before seen play system, it becomes popular throughout the world.

Aichi, immediately attracted by Vanguard, meets friends such as Togura Misaki and Katsuragi Kamui, along with other rivals. Through friendly rivalry with them, Aichi begins to enjoy a fulfilling life. Aichi, however, has a goal: to once again battle with a Vanguard Fighter by the name of Kai Tosihki. Kai Toshiki is an aloof and cold-hearted high schooler who has outstanding abilities in the world of Vanguard. He is also the reason why Aichi started playing the game. For him, Toshiki is the person who saved him from his boring life and introduced him to Vanguard. In order to get better at Vanguard, Aichi puts his soul into it every day. He wishes that someday, he'll be able to battle Toshiki and have him recognize his worth'

The show is really good and I would encourage anyone who enjoys the Yu-Gi-Oh! series to watch it. It does a good job of showing the card game and has rather entertaining characters.

Also, the card game looks like a lot of fun and when it comes out in the states I will jump at the chance to play.

Just found this series out, looks good, kinda ripoff of ygo but I think this is made less childish. 5Ds was mature too and this is something different but it looks interesting, just watched the first 2 episodes. So far I think the series can have some good potential and that they were inspired by ygo.

I teared during that episode with misaki and her "gift" When she was dueling aichi's sister. That was soooo believable.

I never liked this at all. The game seems kinda lol wut to me and the characters are meh so far. I stopped after the first few episodes...maybe I'll get back into it again. Eventually.

Cardfight Vanguard is an amazing anime with amazing OP.

I would love to play it myself as it not only game of skill but game of luck. Get critical at right time or even a heal to make opponent sweat it out.

At least the luck-mechanic in the game is internal and it's embraced by the players themselves. In Yu-Gi-Oh!, the luck factor seems to piss more people off than the Vanguard players when one pulls a Critical or Heal Trigger, lol.

I can only imagine as anime shows the luck factor and how it affects people. Sure they get disappointed and that but they move on and try again later.

As for Jam Project I thought first OP was great but then heard second and I loved it

2nd OP is arguably above the level of the 1st one. But, because it's JAM Project, of course they've got awesome OP's. I just hope the directors keep using JAM Project for this series, 'cause they're doing a splendid job with the OP's and matching the rhythm and feel of the OP to the song being used.

If Jam Project were to be dropped the show would be missing that crucial element. Those songs can get you pumped and excited to watch the show. Not many can do that

I just finished the latest ep and i was like wtf?! Aichi has the same power as Ren. although, we all knew this was coming one way or the other. Overall, i'll continue to watch this anime. and have high hopes for it. thinking of getting a deck for myself when it comes out on the 3rd of December.

They been teasing his ability being same as Ren for ages. Glad they finally putting it forward now. Kai seems to know a lot about this ability. I have feeling he is hiding something as in first Vanguard fight with Aichi he displayed some sort of power himself

Despite how I predicted this, the episode still blew my mind. Gave me some chills down my spine with all the "Screw you"'s that Aichi gave to his Royal Paladins, which in turn, will be a big "Screw you" to all of his friends.

If THAT'S what this power can do to Aichi, I'm wondering what could happen to Misaki, implying the PSY Girls were right on their hunch that Misaki could possess the power too. o.O

Just a heads up for people who think this is some sort of YGO rip-off you can't really call it that, it just seems to be a rip-off because it is actually made by a collaboration between Akira Itō(who made a spin off manga of Yu-Gi-Oh! called Yu-Gi-Oh! R), Satoshi Nakamura(who was the creator of the manga Duel Masters) and the Bushiroad president Takaaki Kidani.

Personally I feel the game is more like Duel Masters. Especially with the whole "Heal Trigger", "Critical Trigger", "Stand Trigger" and "Draw Trigger" aspect which reminds me of the shield triggers in Duel Masters. Even the whole +1 critical effects that can be used on the monsters with their special abilities, triggers and the drive checks.

dammit next week was when aichi and kai are gonna duke it out. And I was so hyped up for this week's episode Crying or Very sad

Latest episode was good. A good insight on Kai and Ren's previous friendship, and we see why Kai doesn't want to let Aichi be controlled by the Psyqualia.

Oh, and Episode 50's preview of Kaiblade vs Aichidark... DO WANT! I want a screen shot of it! It's just /that/ epic! =D
