token stampede

I was playing agains a player who used "Token Stampede"

So i used a "Earthquake" to change his tokens to def position and atk with my monster.

Here is the problem...

DN "Token Stampede" card text (and Wikia as well):
Tokens in Attack Position gain 1000 ATK, and cannot be destroyed by battle.

So... The token need be in atk position to be protected by the "Token Stampede" effect?

I see that way: The token in atk position gains 1000 atk and the protection, but if it is on the def position it gains nothing.
If the card text was:"Tokens in Attack Position gain 1000 ATK. Tokens cannot be destroyed by battle." OK, tokens cannot be destroyed even in def position, but it is not the case.

One more problem with the card text. The player said the comma in the middle of the text (Tokens in Attack Position gain 1000 ATK, and cannot be destroyed by battle.) makes this part of the effect indeppendent of the first part... The problem is: The card scan I found don't have this comma!!!

A Defense position Token is protected by "Tokens Stampede" effect?

No. They are not protected.

If DN has the wrong text, then this should be corrected.
