Mystical Space Typhoon Does NOT Negate, True or False?

I'm sure it's true but somebody I played against just did not get it, and it should not matter if it's a quick play spell:

him: do u under stand what fast play means

me: spell speed 2 can be chained against spell speed 2

me: mst is spell speed 2, and so is button

him: my spell is a fast play type card

him: its right under the title of the name

him: and look at yours

him: u blind or something

me: unless you had a counter trap which is spell speed 3 like solemn judgment, then I cannot chain a button

me: normal traps are speed 2 just like fast play

MST does not negate. I do not know how so many people think this. Nowhere on the card does it say "Negate and destroy" or just "negate". All it says is target and destroy. Even if you MSted let us say, "Allure of Darkness", Allure gets destroyed by MST and the effect still goes off. Allure is not negated, it is just destroyed. I would say "Congrats, you just wasted an MST!:.

It amazes me that this is still an issue. People like to assume their cards do stuff rather than reading them sometimes.

This is something I lul about all the time. People dont seem to understand that cards resolve even when destroyed, unless specifically saying otherwise.
