can Gladiator Beast War Chariot negate the effect of hyperion's special summon by removing 1 card from my hand?

No, Chariot Can not negate that, Because it is not an effect to remove. Its more like a cost to summon. You can However Negate the effect that removes to destroy.

You say it wrong Ruf_Puf. Chariot cannot negate Hyperion's effect of Special Summon itself because that effect doesn't start a chain.
