Who told you Black Garden can stop Trishula's eff? It simply form a Chain with Trishula's eff, and since it is mandatory: Black Garden will be Chain Link 1, Trishula will be Chain Link 2.

Black garden has a trigger effect therefore preventing the summon-activate effect with priority thing, but Trishula´s effect is also a Trigger, so they form a chain, that´s all.
