The Warrior Returning Alive to recover Number 39: Utopia

We're not sure about the activation of when Xyz Number 39: Utopia

is in the Graveyard.

It says it's a monster so If it returns to the hand it should return to the extra deck, I guess, but my brother says the card says specifically "to the hand" , creating the problem because It cannot return to the hand, therefore I think it can go to the Extra deck...all in all, we are not clear and that's why we're posting this question.

If you choose a monster that doesn't go in the hand like a Synchro, Fusion, or Xyz Monster, they will simply go in the Extra Deck.

Cost is the only thing that need to be put in exact place for the effect to resolve. If the effect and the place of the card like in this situation is not the same, the card will simply goes to the place it belongs.
