Luster question.

black luster soldier-envoy of the beginning says "This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by removing from play 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster in your Graveyard." My friend insists that once it's been summoned by this method you can then special summon it with Monster reborn from grave. Is this true? And if it is true does that mean I can reborn or use darkness metal to summon a regular red-eyes darkness which says "This card cannot be Special Summoned except by Tributing 1 "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" on your side of the field."

its the only vs except clause you can reborn bls, dont think you can rb the dragon

BLS is a semi-nomi, meaning that, after you summon it, you can Reborn it, Call it, et cetera. Darkness is a nomi, so it can only be summoned its way. The key words are "only" and "except".

Yes, you can reborn a BLS-EotB that has been properly summoned to the field from the hand.
Its what we refer to as a Semi-Nomi monsters, since it only has the limiting text can only, which in this text refers to the hand.
After that condition has been fulfilled,and it is properly SSed to the field, it will be revivable from the RFG and the Grave.
Red Eyes Darkness Dragon on the other hand, has a limiting text of Except,making it a Nomi monster, meaning there is no other way to summon it except by the summoning condition written in its card text.

You can Reborn Black Luster Soldier if he was sent to the grave if he was Special Summon correctly first, but you wont be able to do that if his summon was negated. And no, you cannot Special Summon Red-Eyes Darkness from the grave even if he was summoned correctly first.

If you have questions like this in the future, remeaber this.
If a card's text say "This card can only be Special Summoned...", then you need to Special Summon it the way it says in the text and then you can Spcail Summon it from the grave, if it's summon wasnt negated.

If a card's text say "This card cannot be Special Summoned except by..." then the card can only be Special Summoned that way and cannot be Special Summoned from the grave even if you correctly Special Summoned it frist.
