Destroy and hit : A guide to Demise
I. Introduction :
Ritual monsters have been part of the game since it's early stages. They may seem to be dead, especially when compared to other more practical monsters, but makes up for fun casual decks. The one I'll talk about in this thread is monster that used to be a respected force and still can be part of decent decks : Demise, King of Armageddon.
II. The boss of Demise :
The boss monster of the deck and the one we will build around. A pseudo-JD effect : Pay 2000 to blow-up everything but this monster. This effect enables a lot of OTK possibilites and make this card arguably the best ritual in the game.
III. Decks and variants :
While we know that it's an OTK card at heart, it can be used in a lot of decks that have the same goal (OTK or die !) but different methods to get there.
In here, I'll talk about the possible variants to use Demise in.
IV. Ending :
Thanks to all of those who read this article. While Demise decks aren't primed to dominate the meta or come close to the top, they can put up a solid fight and are good casual decks at the very least.
More decks may be added to the article so stay tuned for updates... or don't

II. The boss of Demise :
This card can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card, "End of the World". You can pay 2000 Life Points to destroy all cards on the field, except this card.

- DemiseTown:
Main deck : 40
- Monsters : 18 -
3x Demise, King of Armageddon
3x Ancient Gear Gadjiltron
3x Black Salvo
2x Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive
3x Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands
3x Mechanicalchaser
1x Sangan
- Spells : 19 -
1x Advanced Ritual Art
1x Dark Hole
2x End of the World
3x Geartown
1x Heavy Storm
1x Limiter Removal
2x Megamorph
1x Monster Reborn
2x Mystical Space Typhoon
2x Terraforming
3x Trade-In
- Traps : 3 -
3x Royal Decree
Extra deck : 15
1x Ancient Fairy Dragon
1x Black Rose Dragon
1x Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
1x Gaia Knight, the Force of Earth
1x Scrap Archfiend
2x Daigusto Emerald
2x Lavalval Chain
2x Number 39: Utopia
2x Steelswarm Roach
2x Wind-Up Zenmaines
This might be the most used variant of Demise. Known as "DemiseTown", it's pretty straightforward. Summon Demise and use it's effect while Geartown is on the field to summon Gadjiltron then OTK using Megamorph or Limiter Removal for 8000+ damage. Mechanicalchaser is to be used with Adv Ritual Art while Dekoichi gives draw power if needed. Both are targets for Black Salvo to go into an easy LV7 synch. Sangan searches Salvo and Manju especially, with the latter seatching out Demise or any ritual spell.
As for ritual spells, we have 2 copies of End of the World and one of Advanced Ritual Art (used with Mechanicalchaser). Geartown summons Gadjiltron then Megamorph/Limiter powers it up to the point where we can deal enough damage. 3 Trade-In for 6 targets, pretty useful since Gadjiltron can even be summoned from the grave. Geartown is searched via Terraforming if not drawn.
The trap lineup is not important in this deck, so 3 Royal Decree to make sure our plays don't get interrupted.
BRD blows stuff and enables Geartown, Ancient Fairy Dragon activates Geartown too. The rest are good cards we can access and can help one way or another (Chain searches Demise, Daigusto recycle and summon chaser...).
- DemiseInsect:
Main deck : 40
- Monsters : 20 -
3x Demise, King of Armageddon
3x Metal Armored Bug
1x Great Maju Garzett
3x Insect Knight
3x Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands
3x Maxx C
1x Sangan
- Spells : 16 -
1x Advanced Ritual Art
1x Dark Hole
2x End of the World
1x Heavy Storm
1x Lightning Vortex
2x Megamorph
1x Monster Reborn
2x Mystical Space Typhoon
2x Swing of Memories
3x Trade-In
- Traps : 4 -
2x Divine Wrath
2x Raigeki Break
Extra deck : 15
3x Daigusto Emeral
1x Gem-Knight Pearl
2x Lavalval Chain
1x Number 10: Illumiknight
1x Number 16: Ruler of Color - Shock Ruler
3x Number 39: Utopia
1x Number C39: Ray Utopia
2x Steelswarm Roach
1x Verz Ouroboros
An interesting variant that uses Insect and especially Doom Dozer to OTK.
Insect Knight and Metal Armored Bug make Advanced Ritual Art always live (the latter also works with Trade-In) and serve as Dozer food, along with Maxx C. Great Maju Garzett may seem odd here, but he's a megamorph subtitute that can transform into a 5600-ATK behemoth if summoned using Dozer or Armored Bug, plus he's searchable via Sangan.
The spells lineup is pretty much the same as Demise Town. Swing of Memories can help in making big plays with a potential 6 targets. Lightning Vortex, Divine Wrath & Raigeki Break fill the grave while helping get over stuff.
The extra is a bunch of Rank 4s. each of them have different effects and uses to help setting up combos.
- DemiseGaia:
Main deck : 40
- Monsters : 19 -
3x Demise, King of Armageddon
3x The Masked Beast
3x Valkyrion the Magna Warrior
1x Gorz the Emissary of Darkness
1x Alpha the Magnet Warrior
1x Beta the Magnet Warrior
1x Gamma the Magnet Warrior
3x Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands
1x Sangan
2x Verz Heliotrope
- Spells : 18 -
1x Advanced Ritual Art
3x Contract with the Abyss
3x Dark Calling
1x Dark Hole
1x Foolish Burial
1x Heavy Storm
2x Megamorph
1x Monster Reborn
2x Mystical Space Typhoon
3x Trade-In
- Traps : 3 -
3x Reckless Greed
Extra deck : 15
3x Evil Hero - Dark Gaia
2x Daigusto Emeral
2x Gem-Knight Pearl
2x Lavalval Chain
2x Number 39: Utopia
2x Steelswarm Roach
2x Verz Thanatos
The 1st thing noticed here is the big amount of high level monsters. 9 of them being LV8, but that's not a problem as they always stay live thanks to Trade-In and especially Dark Calling, a key card in this build. The latter let us go into a HUGE Dark Gaia (can go up to 6700 !). Valkyrion, while very difficult to summon, is the strongest Rock monster available. We also have a lot of strong fiends, the strongest being The Masked Beast. I chose this one because it's a level 8 (trade-in, tribute for ritual), very strong & can be summoned via Contract of the Abyss (replaced End of the World). The Magnet Warrios and Verz Heliotrope are for Advanced Ritual Art while also serving as Dark Calling food.
I opted to go with Triple Reckless Greed for the trap lineup. It helps speeding the deck while being chainable in case I get awful draws.
As usual, lots of Rank 4s in the extra deck. Most of them are either Rock or Fiend for Dark Calling. And obviously 3 Dark Gaia which plays a very important role in the OTK.
- DemiseChaos:
Main deck : 40
- Monsters : 21 -
3x Demise, King of Armageddon
1x Black Luster - Envoy of the Beginning
3x Chaos Sorcerer
2x Alexandrite Dragon
2x Breaker the Magical Warrior
2x Effect Veiler
3x Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands
1x Sangan
2x Thunder King Rai-Oh
2x Verz Heliotrope
- Spells : 15 -
1x Allure of Darkness
1x Advanced Ritual Art
1x Dark Hole
2x End of the World
1x Foolish Burial
1x Heavy Storm
2x Megamorph
1x Monster Reborn
1x Monster Reincarnation
2x Mystical Space Typhoon
2x Trade-In
- Traps : 4 -
1x Return from the Different Dimension
3x Reckless Greed
Extra deck : 15
1x Ally of Justice Catastor
1x Arcanite Magician
1x Black Rose Dragon
1x Stardust Dragon
1x T.G. Hyper Librarian
1x Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
1x Daigusto Emeral
1x Lavalval Chain
2x Number 39: Utopia
1x Number C39: Ray Utopia
2x Steelswarm Roach
2x Verz Thanatos
Unsure about this one. The monster count seems high, but the idea is to mix light and dark monster to go the chaos route. Alexandrite, Heliotrope, TKRO and Breaker aren't bad on their own, with the 1st tow being ARA food. The basic Idea is to blow up the field then summon Chaos monsters and swing for game.
Even if it doesn't OTK, it can control the game using the chaos monsters that are easily accessible here. Monster Reincarnation seems kind of odd, but it can get BLS or Chaos to my hand if they end up in the grave.
I added some protection with Threatening Roar so I can set up my plays without fearing of being hit and avoiding battles. Return from the D.D is chainable to Demise's eff and lets me OTK or gain advantage for the next turns if I don't OTK. It also lets me go into Thanatos that can protect himself from Demise or any Rank 4 that can strenghten my strategy.
- Demise&Pals:
Main deck : 40
- Monsters : 18 -
2x Dark Master - Zorc
2x Demise, King of Armageddon
2x Garlandolf, King of Destruction
2x Alexandrite Dragon
1x Ally Mind
2x Genex Controller
3x Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands
3x Ritual Raven
1x Sangan
- Spells : 21 -
1x Advanced Ritual Art
1x Allure of Darkness
2x Ascending Soul
3x Contract with the Abyss
1x Dark Hole
1x Heavy Storm
2x Magical Mallet
2x Magical Stone Excavation
1x Monster Reborn
2x Monster Reincarnation
2x Pot of Duality
1x Preparation of Rites
2x Swing of Memories
- Traps : 1 -
1x Treacherous Trap Hole
Extra deck : 15
1x Armory Arm
1x Black Rose Dragon
1x Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
1x Genex Ally Triarm
1x Genex Ally Triforce
1x Scrap Archfiend
1x Scrap Dragon
1x Stardust Dragon
1x Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
1x Daigusto Emeral
1x Lavalval Chain
1x Leviair the Sea Dragon
1x Number 39: Utopia
1x Steelswarm Roach
1x Wind-Up Zenmaines
That looks like a very messy deck, probably the 'messiest' I've ever made. I haven't even tested it yet and odn't know how it'll do. Anyway, this time Demise has come with a few pals in destruction : Zorc & Garlandolf. A key card here is Ritual Raven that serves as the entire tribute for all of these ritual monsters and then proceed to blow-up stuff. As usual the vanillas are here, with this time Genex Controller and Ally Mind as tuners too ! The latter seems kind of odd as it's a LV5 tuner that's not that good in the hand.
The spells lineup is big with 21. Most of them focus on reusing the spells/monsters for more riituals, whereas Magical Mallet/Pot of Duality can either help me with my hand or serve as discard fodder if needed. I had a spot left so I went with the chainable trap Treacherous Trap Hole that can either clear the field or at the least act as discard fodder for my spells.
Since I'm running Genex Controller, I thought about adding the Genex Synchros (Triarm & Triforce, could've added R-Locomotion). Wind-Up Zenmaines can avoid being destroyed if my ritals' effects backfire or hit me. Like I said, I don't even know if this deck can be as effective as the others.
- DemiseLightVanilla:
Main deck : 40
- Monsters : 21 -
3x Demise, King of Armageddon
3x Blue-Eyes White Dragon
3x Ghost Ship
3x Alexandrite Dragon
3x Dunames Dark Witch
2x Effect Veiler
1x Honest
3x Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands
- Spells : 15 -
1x Advanced Ritual Art
1x Dark Hole
2x End of the World
1x Heavy Storm
2x Lightwave Tuning
1x Monster Reborn
2x Mystical Space Typhoon
3x Swing of Memories
2x Trade-In
- Traps : 4 -
3x Reckless Greed
1x Return from the Different Dimension
Extra deck : 15
1x Ally of Justice Catastor
1x Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
1x Light End Dragon
1x Scrap Dragon
1x Stardust Dragon
1x Thought Ruler Archfiend
1x Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
1x Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon
1x Daigusto Emeral
1x Lavalval Chain
2x Number 39: Utopia
1x Number 61: Volcasaurus
1x Steelswarm Roach
1x Tiras, Keeper of Genesis
Uses the light and vanilla monsters to swarm the field thanks to Ghost Ship and Swing of Memories. Advanced Ritual Art is always alive in this deck, while Swing of Memories helps me get field presence to attack for game, XYZ or even go for a LV8 thanks to the pair of Lightwave Tuning I have here. With the high number of lights, Ghost Ship proves to be an easy summon for more damage or to go into any of the Rank 5 here (Tiras, Adreus & Volcasaurus).
Reckless Greed & R.D.D are chainable to destruction and gives more advantage with the latter being beneficial to all the banishing that can Ghost Ship do, plus it lets me go into easy LV8 synchros thanks to Lightwave Tunning.
Other than the obvious Rank 4, this deck has a fair share of LV8 synchs and Rank 5 XYZ to cruise to a win, since the deck isn't a must OTK one.
- DemiseJama:
Main deck : 40
- Monsters : 22 -
3x Demise, King of Armageddon
2x Oelisk the Tormentor
1x BLS - EotB
1x Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind
3x Junk Synchron
3x Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands
3x Ojama Black
3x Ojama Green
3x Ojama Yellow
- Spells : 15 -
1x Advanced Ritual Art
1x Dark Hole
2x End of the World
1x Future Fusion
1x Heavy Storm
1x Instant Fusion
1x Lightning Vortex
1x Monster Reborn
2x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Ojamagic
3x Tri-Wight
- Traps : 3 -
3x Threatning Roar
Extra deck : 15
1x Ojama King
1x Ojama Knight
1x Ally of Justice Catastor
1x Blackwing Armor Master
1x Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
2x Frozen Fitzgerald
1x Mist Wurm
1x Scrap Dragon
1x Stardust Dragon
1x Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
3x Gachi Gachi Gantetsu
1x Number 61 : Volcasaurus / Tiras, Keeper of Genesis
A variant suggested by Rare Hunter that can actually be very decent. The Ojama vanillas serve as the tribute fodder for Demise. We also have Future Fusion (+Ojama King) to send them to the grave so we can combo from that point :
- Tri-Wright to use them as tribute for Obelisk.
- Tri-Wright for Gachi-Gachi or synchros.
- Junk Synhcron can revive them for a quick LV5 synchro.
Since all the Ojamas are light, I also added BLS. I also have 4 LV3 DARK tuners that let me access to Frozen Fitzgerald.
I also added Instant Fusion to either access the LV8 synchros or a Rank 5 if the situation lets me. Ojamagic with Lightning Vortex can create huge +s. Threatning Roar to set up properly before exploding and make a push for the win.
Tri-Wight can let me access easily to LV9 so I also added Mist Wurm. This deck isn't OTK based like most of the Demise decks.
- DemiseHolyMark:
Main deck : 40
- Monsters : 20 -
3x Demise, King of Armageddon
3x Holy Marker of the Divine Dragon
1x Set, the Holy Marker Dragon
1x Shu, the Holy Marker Dragon
1x Tefnut, the Holy Marker Dragon
3x Alexandrite Dragon
2x Dragorado
3x Geb, the Holy Marker Dragon
3x Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands
- Spells : 18 -
1x Advanced Ritual Art
1x Dark Hole
2x End of the World
2x Enemy Contoller
1x Heavy Storm
3x Holy Marker of Gathering
1x Monster Reborn
2x Super Rejuvenation
2x Swing of Memories
2x Trade-In
1x White Elephant's Gift
- Traps : 2 -
2x Holy Marker of Obliteration
Extra deck : 15
1x Atum, the Holy Marked Dragon
2x Daigusto Emeral
3x Ennead the Holy Marked Dragon
1x Kachi Kochi Dragon
1x Lavaval Chain
1x Number 16: Shock Ruler Conqueror of Colors
2x Number 39: Utopia
1x Number C39: Utopia Ray
1x Steelswarm Roach
1x The Sacred Ptolemys M7
1x Thunder End Dragon
A variant suggested by Phoenix Wright. that can actually be very decent. Now, I'll say that I have virtually no experience with the "Holy Mark" archetype so i don't know how the deck can turn out. The idea behin this archetype is the fact that they gain effects when tributed so we'll use them as tribute fodder for Demise. But how good will they mesh with Demise is a question to be answered.
Other than ritual summoning Demise, the deck has other ways to tribute the dragons : Dragorado, Enemy Controller and Holy Mark of Obliteration. While being a 0/0 LV8 vanilla monster, Holy Marker of the Divine Dragon is very important here as he can cover the cost to summon Demise and serve in summoning the other ace of the deck : Ennead. Alexandrite Dragon is useful too for rank 4 xyz, helping for Demise Summon and is a 2000 beater, as is Geb (the only LV4 member of the archetype) who can ring out the vanillas in more than one way (battle and tribute). Dragorado can make for an easy Ennead and still help the Holy Mark monsters getting their effects. Set can be a little tricky to summon as he needs 3 normal monsters (I have 6) but is a Trade-In target and cover the cost for the ritual summon. I hesistated between picking the pair of LV5 (Isis/Nephtys) and LV6 (Shu/Tefnut) but went with the latter as they give acces to Atum and Ptolemys if needed.
With a high risk of dead 'hands', the deck needs some draw power and that's when Trade-In & White Elepahnt's Gift come. The first one is always live with 7 targets in the deck, while the latter helps getting rid of a weak vanilla in situations I can't XYZ. Super Rejuvenation is also excellent here as it helps getting advantage from the tributes made during the turn.
IV. Ending :
Thanks to all of those who read this article. While Demise decks aren't primed to dominate the meta or come close to the top, they can put up a solid fight and are good casual decks at the very least.
More decks may be added to the article so stay tuned for updates... or don't

Re: Destroy and hit : A guide to Demise
Though kinda of a weaker version of DemiseGaia there's Demise HEROs which uses Miracle Fusion and Dark Calling along the normal Elemental HEROs.
And maybe talk about pure non-OTK Ritual builds with Demise. I find that with stand alone Ritual decks you should be running 2 Ritual Monsters so as to not run out of options. Demise seems to go the best with Zorc, Garlandolf (both add to the destruction theme and allow you to run Contact with the Abyss) and Northwemko (immune to Demise's effect when combined with Citadel). And don't forget about the Djinns.
Anyway Demise along with Relinquished, Herald of Perfection and Evigishki Zeal Gigas are probably the best and most competitive Rituals in the game. Thanks for taking the time to make this guide. In 2012 too. Great timing lol.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I'll add more variants.
I assume DemiseJama uses Tri-Wright to provide tribute fodder for Obelisk ? Never heard of it.

- Tribute 3x Ojama, summon Obelisk.

Meta tournament minded ? If anything I'm the total opposite of it. I don't play IRL and could care less about tournaments.
I know the basic idea of the deck, just saying that I've never heard of it. It seems inconsistent, especially when adding Obelisk too. I'll test it before putting it. Thanks for the idea.
Oh, I saw your ritual gallery, I just haven't commented on it before. I will do later tho.
By the way, I've updated the article with more decks. I'll try to add others to it.

Re: Destroy and hit : A guide to Demise
Completely relying on Tri-Wight is a bad idea considering it's only 3 out of 40 cards. Since it's inevitable that you'll have a few normals in your hand Faustian Bargain, Creature Swap and Creature Seizure would have to be added. Pretty much the concept of my Lycanthrope deck. Advanced Ritual Art to dump normals for massive burn damage and the mentioned cards aloing with Tri-Wight to beat the hell out of my opponent.

The build I made is decent, albeit a little bit inconsistent. I just took his idea and made a deck out of it.
I have BLS & Junk Synchron to take advantage of all those Ojamas in the grave.

I missed this post the 1st time. I'll tell you that I have no experience with this new archetype, but after some research, I've came up with this build.
I don't know if it's good since it's untested as of now.
OP updated. Any other variant that I'm not aware of and that I can add to the guide ?
