Can you special summon during your own battle phase with a monster's effect

Say, Gigantes for example. When it's your battle phase, can you summon him from your hand by removing 1 EARTH monster from your graveyard, or does it have to be in main phases only?

Yeah, unfortunately this is only during the Main Phase.

Anything that requires you to perform an action in order to summon a monster can only be done in your Main Phase. You can summon during Battle Phase only if an effect that would summon a monster is triggered. So you can't remove Light and Dark For Chaos Sorcerer but you can special summon Meklord Emperor if your monster was destroyed by card like Mirror Force since the conditions for the summoning of Meklord Emperors are fulfilled

Huh? Nobody runs Baboon because he misses the timing all the time, not a lot of card effects explicitly destroy face-up beasts, and he doesn't work when a beast is destroyed in battle. He's a trigger effect, you can activate in any phase, not just the main phase.
