Fusion Question

In Yu-Gi-Oh: Duel Monsters (With Yu-Gi, Seto and Joey) Fusion Monsters had to be on the field to be fused but in GX you can use them in your hand or one on the field and one in your hand etc. what rule do you guys go by here?

One thing: The Anime makes up a bunch of rules that make utterly no sense, if you follow rules that the Anime uses, which if you are able to follow even half of them since they change every series you should be congratulated, you're ultimately going to fail.

You can fuse with monsters from your hand and field unless the fusion card specifically says otherwise ( e.g. Miracle Fusion lets you fuse from your field and graveyard but not your hand ).
