Hijiri + Junk Collector

Junk Collector's bypass a card's cost, and activate the effect, much like Diamond Dude.
From Hijiri's wording, Tributing a monster and selecting another seems to be the cost for the card, thought I may be wrong

So;

1) Can you use Junk Collector to bypass the tributing cost and simply SS targeted banished monster?
2) If 1) is true; since there's no "cards" as Hijiri becomes Junk Collector's "effect", can your opponent still negate it by revealing a Trap?

1) yes, you bypass the tribute cost and simply target a banished monster.
2) your opp can still negate it by revealing.

I believe you bypass, as you're only activating the effect. Tributing a Light monster, I believe, is the cost of activating this card, not the effect.

You would just activate the effect, so the cost it not part of the effect therefore it wouldn't be applied
