The problem is that Konami had to explain how to pronounce it. Players who don't know how to properly pronounce it will most likely call it XYZ as opposed to ikseez (until Konami and the CW4kids bang it into are head to the point of annoying). Exceed is easy to pronounce and causes little confusion.

On a separate note, I bet the first time people seen it they thought of XYZ Dragon Cannon right away.

I think that Ultimate Offering will have to be limited or banned when Xyzs come out. Having Ultimate Offering and gadgets is overpowered with the Xyzs.

Xyz just made me think of the XYZ monsters in a blink as stated previously. I always pronounced it "exceez".

Say, the monster has a rank of three, then you need to have two or more level three monsters to special summon the card from your extra deck. These will be used as Overlay Units. Overlay Units are technically what runs the Xyz Monsters and it can have a negative effect if you run out of units, so you should be careful with how much you use.

The thing I find cheap is the fact that ranks are invincible to cards like Gravity Bind, etc. Really isn't fair against those who use level cards. So you're most likely going to find someone who abuses the Xyz monsters ability to slip through cards like that(Note that ranks aren't considered to be levels).

At first glace I thought it was pronounced XYZ. But Xyz is better but I think we'll still be calling it Exceed, just like we call sending the top card to grave milling. It doesn't have to be from Konami for YGO players to say it

I think they should have given them a rank for the summoning but they should have also given them a level and if u think about it wouldnt their lvl technically be zero if its just a rank so their are cards that could give them a level dont u think?

and on a side note y is it when a new type of card apears the previous disappear it starts with fusions then they dissapear till the meklord emporers show up then synchros and they disappear as if they never existed in the Zexal series

Yep, the japs are already using that in their Plant Synchro deck (or is it Plantsworn? I don't remember) so the idea is legit.

Also, I agree Ultimate Offering Gadget is OP. 3 Roach in one turn? (Aspairing Emperor) Hope that you topdeck a Dark Hole/Lightning Vortex/Torrential/w/e or you might as well scoop.

They translated it "Exceed", but the problem was... there was never a "D" in there, and everyone just proceeded to follow what the fanslators said. There was never a "D" in the first place. Hell, listen to how the characters in Zexal say it, they say "Ekkushiizu".

"Dzu" would imply the "D" being there, but there never was one. In my opinion, people are denying the fact and are just gonna argue with me now because I said the truth. =/

That's my two-cents on the complaints with the original name: Xyz.

I called them "Xyz" since day one... idiots on Pojo derped me 10x saying "Translators say it's Exceed!!!"... I thought "Since when did a Translator = Someone Working At Godnami?", but decided to relish the thought and personally call them "Xyz" in real life while not even naming them online. honestly Konami screwed up with this name change stuff.
Number 17: Levitial Dragon instead No.17 Revise Dragon
Number 39: Utopia instead of No. 39 Asprirng Emperor Hope
they could of easly changed Aspiring Emperor Hope to Keeper of Hope since that what it sounds like Yuma is saying in ZeXal.

Kevin gave a bad explanation about Hope, I give him credit for that. However, Aspiring King Hope's REAL translation was, according to Tewart himself, "King of Wishes, Hope"... kinda like it, idk.

And Revise Dragon was never Revise Dragon. It was ALWAYS Leviath Dragon, it's just that the translators went with "Revise", and everyone jumped on the wagon for "Revise", when it was always "Leviath". Hell, try saying "Leviath" with the Japanese voices, and you'll see how much more accurate the name is.

Why is everyone looking for a reason to complain, just because Konami stepped in and actually corrected all the mistakes every translator went through? =/

Utopia was a bad choice, but Tewart said, ON POJO, that Hope was always a girl's name, and he decided to use the name Utopia instead. I don't know WHY that was relevant, but apparently it was to him. Also, "Numbers" rather than "No." was because Kevin thought writing "No" on everyone's cards would add negativity to the world.

I gotta admit, now that I'm reading it... I'm kinda finding Tewart's logic quite funny... XD

tl;dr - Again, the translators had it wrong, including anyone that can't stop complaining just because they were used to a certain translation. End of discussion.

I'm going to have to disagree here offering Gadgets aren't all their cracked up to be. their to easy to counter, not only that they rely on offering to much and forget about good defensive cards you have a field of exceeds yes but nothing a mirror force or Torrential etc can't fix. But yes the Exceeds will make Gadgets alot better however I still think Machina Gadget will still be the best Gadget build by far. Other then that I can't wait for this deck it's a new thing I can add to my current decks and for me to fiddle around with

Gadgets are still easy to kill. Just smack with Effect Veiler and you stopped their little loop. Also, there's Pulling the Rug, and etc. Hell, King Tiger Wanghu still ROFL-Stomps them. o.o

To be honest im rly excited about the launching of these cards...i cant wait until i use an Xyz monster in a duel, actually i always hated synchros, when they came out i refused to play with them cause they are just...ridiculous but some very useful of course.

In other words i prefer them more than synchros and im looking forward for this deck.

I agree with you on that. I was never a fan of synchros, even to this day. The only instances I synchro in RL is if I absolutely have to and I always do it with my opponent's tuner after reviving it with Monster Reborn. however, I like the concept of the Xyz monsters, especially the fact they can be brought out with all monsters. that way I don't have to add a tuner I don't want to add to my deck.

Xyz = X, Y, Z, the coordinates on our daily graphs. X and Y are the ones we always see, but Z is what makes the Third Dimension. They also are the coordinates for Space, but then there's the 4th Dimension we can't see that can lead to an Alternate Space. One character named Kaito has a brother who has a mystical power that can create Alternate Dimensions/Realities, and he's trying to save his brother from that power by Capturing the Numbers for the evil Dr. Fake.

Card Games in Alternate Dimensions is essentially what this'll be, and then Card Games in Outer Space.

What does that have to do with Xyz? Look at the frames. Do you notice that it's black with white stars all over it? Proceed to be ROFL-Stomped by Godnami's actual logic behind choosing the name "Xyz". =/
