So Chains ._.
Sorry if this is a dumb question... I'm pretty sure this is really basic, but I just wanna make sure before Is start working on something that I might be wrong about ._.
Chains start as a chain 1 always right? and it's still a chain even if the card has nothing to do with the other one right?
So... say activate something like, Lightning Vortex and chain it to Scapegoat, even though it has nothing to do with each other it'd still be like... Lighting Vortex Chain 1, and Scapegoat Chain 2 right?
Also, if I do Lightning Vortex and discard Fabled Cerburell, the summon would be chain 2 and Lighting Chain 1 right?

1st scenario; Vortex chain 1, Scapegoat chain 2. Tokens summoned, tokens destroyed ( if they're your opponent's )
2nd Scenario; Vortex Chain 1, Cerburell chain 2. Cerburell summoned.
2nd Scenario; Vortex Chain 1, Cerburell chain 2. Cerburell summoned.

Why? Vortex only destroys opponent's monsters... I'm chaining my own Vortex ._.

Me thinks that Cerburell isnt summoned until Vortex's effect is resoved.

an effect does not activate when a chain is already to be built when it triggers. It waits for the chain to resolve, then it activates.
If it would trigger right in chain to lightning vortex in your example many cards would definitly not miss the timing when sent to the grave as a cost^^

Okay, so the effect won't trigger a chain, but would a magic card, chained to a quick play that has nothing to do with that magic card's effect still be done? Then maybe to a trap for a 3rd chain?

It is already a chain when you have a single effect. Your Lightning Vortex alone is a chain, it has only 1 chain link though^^

Okay, let me clarify.... I don't mind the stuff being destroyed, I just want to know if I can chain my own cards to each other to make the chain # go higher... also, if there is a card that wants to be activated as Chain 4, once I got 3 things chained... I can activate it right? since it's chain 4 then... or will I have to BE at chain 4 before I could actually activate it?

when youve chained 3 cards and then chain a 4th your at chain link 4, and no the cards do not have to be related at all, they just need to all be chainable

Oh, sorry, completely my bad. Somehow mixed up the effect from "destroy opps face-up monsters" to "destroy all face-up monsters." Ah feel so silly.

People have pretty much answered. You can chain anything and it'll cause a chain link, even if they have nothing to do with each other. You could activate Monster Reborn and then chain Reckless Greed, they still form a Chain Link.

Your opponent has the chance to chain any of their cards before you have the chance to chain your own though. You have to ask your opponent if they have a response before activating more.
