Condition vs. effect. Empty Condition vs. effect.

Can someone explain why Vayu is an eff and Synchron exploer is a condition.

For example, I know that you can't synchro summon black rose dragon if you summoned exploer synchron then used it's effect to get quickdraw. However, what about if they attacked with blackwing shura then summoned kochi. I thought kochi was a condition so it's "condition" still applies, it not being able to be used as a synchro material monster. Not sure how to distinguish between the two, help please.

I suggest you read this article :

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Condition_Effect

Quickdraw's effect can't be negated so that means you can't access BRD even if you negated it's effect using Synchron Explorer or Skill Drain.

Vayu's eff while on the field is a continuous eff that can be negated by Skill Drain. Which means : If Skill Drain is active & you have Vayu on the field, then you can use it for a synchro.

You're right, Kochi is indeed a condition eff so you can't negate it with Shura/Skill Drain.

Basically, card text alone won't tell you if it is conditions or effects, you need to look up for its ruling to know it.

Best thing to do: look it up on wikia.
All the TCG releases are probably going to be correct, and it will mark each effect/condition as just that.

There is no way to differentiate as of now really. Best way is to look up rulings. This is one of those areas where Konami did royally screw up.

Being a condition or effect is strictly BKSS.

The text will never make it it clear one way or the other, either with the old text or the new problem-solving text. Honestly its pretty stupid how Konami can never make a BKSS ruling and either be correct in the ruling or maintain a standard with conditions.

It's not hard to deduct which ones are Conditions and Which ones are effects, most of those cards usually follow a pattern.
