New Forum Chatbox

As some of you may have already noticed, the old chatbox from the top pop-up bar has been removed. A newer more advanced chatbox is now located at the bottom right of your screen in a floating bubble labelled "Chat". This new chatbox comes with a variety of new features which I will quickly explain here.

The floating bubbles:
At any given time while browsing the forum you can click either of the floating bubbles to begin using the new chat box. The far right bubble displaying "x/x" tells you how many users are currently in the chatbox as: "online users/total users online". Clicking this bubble will bring up the list of online and away users for you conveniently without having to log in to the actual chatbox. This will automatically update.

The bubbled labelled "Chat" is the new chatbox itself. Clicking this will expand a larger chat than the previous one, logging in is the same process.

New features:
1). Sound
- Sound is now a part of the chatbox, when a new message is sent a ping noise will be heard. This can be turned of simply by clicking the "sound is: on" section of the chat at the bottom left of the silver strip.

2). Orange notification
- An alternate feature to sound. If the chat is minimized, yet you are still logged in, the floating "Chat" bubble will turn orange if a new message is sent.

3). PM system
- You can now PM other forum members directly in the chatbox without using the forum PM system. To do this follow this simple command:

/pm username: message

This is case sensitive, if a username has capitals be sure you use capitals.

The old version of the chat is still available for full view. It doesn't have any of the new features built into it though.

I'm going to keep the old version of the chat as the full screen version for now and yes probably update that too.

The scroll bar shouldn't be blue? Screenshot?

The chatbox will be temporarily unavailable. The old chatbox has been added back to the pop up bar underneath the navigation buttons at the top of the screen.

I will notify everyone when the new chatbox is available again.

Its not a glitch, you are not following the PM code properly, the semi-colon (:) is essential to separating the username from your PM message.

So you should follow this code:

/pm username: message

Don't forget the semi-colon! otherwise it will think your message is part of the username.

As I have told you in chat, the chatbox has issues with Ads. Ads are placed in front of chat as showed in the pic below:

Of course my tradition is that I always give a solution additional to bugs I post, because I can New Forum Chatbox 2859867778

I know you are busy with many things so I'll give you a suggestion for solving it in a minute.

Ads are placed in front of chat so we need to give our chat more powers so it can beat the ads Razz

As lines of code matter my solution will be in less code lines as possible because lags don't like extra code lines.

In cascading style sheet of your chatbox you need to give a property:

Code:: z-index:+9999;

As LG chat has its javascript hosted on its own site it could be a pain job to modify the core. So its much easier job if you go to your chat widget and at the place where you add chatbox simply surround it by this code:

Code:: <div style="position:relative; z-index:+9999;">*chatbox code goes here*</div>

Position must be given in order that z-index works. I gave relative, that should not matter since chatbox later defines its own fixed position. However if it makes trouble simply make it fixed too like the chatbox is itself.
Since we need to make cross-browser working code DOCTYPE must be defined but as I see your site has it and there is no need for adding it again.

Poor Chrome, it always gets beaten up by Firefox lol.

Its never late ppl, to give up on your browser and change to bugless Firefox.

on topic: tested out Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera <-(all latest versions) and IE8, works without blue bar to me. You ppl that get the blue bar should give more details for Det like when exactly the blue bar appears on the scene and what action makes if appear. Like when you click on chat or immediately when the site is loaded or when you login to chat etc. It is hard to find the flaw cross-browser but much harder is that for some ppl it does appear and for some it does not for the same browser.

Deto, this info may be interesting for you for finding the flaw: since the blue bar is not appearing to everyone with the same browser (Chrome mostly) and the fact that LG chat needs more plugins than default Forumotion's chat (Apple Quicktime), reason for this may be the difference in plugins used by different users or maybe even coexistence. If users that get blue bars provide you the list of their browser plugins maybe you can solve it by trying to emulate their circumstances and go step by step to your current (properly working) circumstances to see what possibly causes the problem.

Thanks for the info people. I'll get into looking into it later today. Quicktime is used for the sound. The other option is to remove sound altogether.

New bug... I use chrome and for SOME reason... everytime I receive a message in the chatbox (the pop-up) My WHOLE screen turns blue. I know ne other person who is experiencing the same problem, but from the looks of it, not many are effected.
