DN Down
It appears that someone from Konami has filed a DMCA on Dueling Network. The server provider was required to take down the site until this can be resolved.
Please stay calm during this time. I am working on contacting Konami and am hoping they will be reasonable about resolving this issue. I do not know how long this will take.

Edit: It may have been a false DCMA sent by a person pretending to represent Konami. Do not jump to any conclusions.

For a DMCA it doesn't matter if it's NFP.

Did they ever do this with other duel simulators? Why is this one different? Legally speaking.

Honestly the best bet would be to make a distributable file and pass it around for people to use, something like YVD.
I don't know why this wasn't done before.

It's not different. I come from a background coding games for BYOND (the program/community that made DMG) and rights owners have been recently attacking games left and right with DMCAs... Free or not I'm sure Konami doesn't like the fact that this game is taking all their YuGiOh Online customers.

Wow, because of one picture. Just one picture in a password change. But, why do they want to shut it down anyway? Just ask to change the picture. But Konami relizes the smallest of details. Like DMU. Hope it comes back soon. Cheers BLS.

maybe you can move the whole application to another server until this issue has been fixed ?
i cannot understand why konami does not hire you as legal staff member to create a fully legal version of dueling network -.-
same with kino.to in germany -.-
fucking status quo!

kinda weird that without konami there would be no Yugioh card game and thus no DN but at the same time we could lose DN because of konami

Re: DN Down
Well they did do this to DMG a while back until UD put in the Copyright stuff saying that Konami owned Yugioh and all its rights were reserved to them and blah blah blah. So really DN might be back up sooner then we all might think. Took DMG like a couple days before it was back up and running.

you might be right all they technically have to do is give konami credit for DN because as i said earlier if konami did not make the yugioh card game we would be not playing DN anyway

Re: DN Down
Dunno why thie hating. I mean Konami and YU-GI-OH is getting a hell more popular because of this. Why are they gonna rage and analyse such a good website which not directly affiliated with Konami but boosting them. Its a logo. Yes its theres however, clearly it claims they are not affiliated with Konami, a minor mistake but whatever. More people playing YU-GI-OH. More Money. Its ridicule. Let Bygons be Bygons.

I hate that this happened. Dude honestly maybe you can form an alliance with Konami and get more attention. This shouldn't be happening honestly. I can see the big deal if you guys were making money or making cards or something but this is just for fun.
idk i've always hated the DMCA. They go out of control when it comes to stuff like this and anime music videos and stuff. It's out of control.

This usually works.
@Ipowers: Only problem is that they start to control everything you do. It ends up becoming YGO online all over again :/
Re: DN Down
It's Not that simple.
Konami has an online dueling system called Yugi-Oh online, as well as multiple video games that have wi-fi/ electronic dueling capabilities.
As such Konami sees dueling websites such as this and KCVDS as taking away their profits.
In Konami's eyes, why would you pay for something that is free. Which is true... many duelists on Dueling Network don't want to pay for Yugi-Oh Cards or games. Either because of the principle that they can do it for free or because they simply do not have the funds.
This is not to imply that every duelist on Dueling Network doesn't play in real life etc, simply that in Konami's eyes, this could cause people not to buy products.
The concept is a fundamentally sound one that has effected many electronic industries such as video. IE: Youtube.
Konami simply is taking the approach to crackdown on things that it finds threatening to its property before they truly eat into its profits.
Unfortunately for us, we get the short end of the stick, losing a way to playtest and have fun when not within range to duel irl.
Alas business is business and the only two options available to us is to protest or continue with life.
I hope Konami forgoes this beef with Dueling Network and lets it be. Me personally I like having something to playtest on everyonce in awhile.
TLDR Version: Konami wants money, Dueling Network has a possibility of eating at some of it's profits, hope Konami doenst destroy Dueling Network.

Yea DN is the only one other than yugioh online that worked decently the only thing I hate about Yugioh online is that i have to download it to my system and that I have to buy tons of virtual packs with real money to even get close to using my real deck
