Lets look at tour guide text :

"When this card is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 Level 3 Fiend-Type monster from your hand or Deck. Its effects are negated, and it cannot be used as a Synchro Material Monster."

So... TOUR GUIDE itself can be used as Synchro material effect right ?

Look at the game chatbox,
my opp saying TOUR GUIDE negates SANGAN

i see now, well he's dumb, because sangan's eff activates in the grave not in the field (the effect of tourguide negating is only on the field)

Your opponent had a 60 cards Deck with Light of Intervention and Reflect Bounder on it... it was almost a given that they wouldn't understand how Sangan works (a Sangan that was summoned by Tour Guide of the Underworld does get it's effect when sent to the grave, including after being attached to an Xyz monster).

P.S. Making topics just for "explaining" something to an opponent who is already gone is not too productive. It's not like they would check them and magically accept the correct rulings.

sangan eff is negated while it's @field (only)....
(note: sangan eff activate in graveyard...not field)

in a way....tourguide eff is similar to skill drain (field only)

when sangan is send to grave...sangan eff activate


and yes...tour guide can be used as synch material
(the one that can't is the s.summoned monster by tour guide)
