Learning How To Side Deck

As the title might seem to be misleading, I know nothing about side decking. But I want to learn so I don't look like an even bigger noob when I go to my first ever locals.

I have two decks in mind that I could take but at the moment im not sure which one im going to take. However, the main decks are built. I just need a side deck and the concept of knowing when and what to swap out.

So would anybody like to help me?

A side deck needs to be built to counter the current meta. Sooo you may wanna side light - imprisoning mirror(die agents die), shadow imprisoning mirror(fck DW), maybe Maxx "C"( for these SS whores)... I suggest you look at the side decks used by the top ycs decklists .

Saying a side deck is to defeat the current meta is, while partially true, is somewhat inaccurate and misleading. A side deck is first and foremost to be used for your unfavorable match-ups. While Twilight may be a popular meta deck, according to your list, you don't have trouble against it.

Therefore, you should not be dedicating side deck slots specifically for Twilight. Ever.

Taking Dark World as an example, because you do have trouble against it, you must side for it. First, take care to ponder just what they are doing that is giving you so much trouble. Is it the destruction? The Summoning?

Secondly, before deciding what slots to fill your side with, compare the strengths and weaknesses of Dark World to other match-ups you have trouble with, and use cards that hurt them as well.

For example, you have trouble against Plants as well. Both of those decks like to play in the graveyard. What single card can be used to counter this: Dimensional Fissure. That's 2-3 slots for not only those two match-ups, but Twilight as well, just to give you a huge edge in that match while at the same time keeping your side prepared for the others.

If that is not enough, side 3 Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo with it. Now, you have not only Plants and Dark World's Summoning power locked, but every other deck that likes to do it, such as Heroes.

To test, use DN's Duel Note to specifically request poor match-ups, and go in pre-sided to see how it goes; while this does not account for what they might side against you in an actual match, it will offer insight into what strengths remain with their deck even with sided cards.

what cards prevent these guys from jumping all over the place?

One for one cards like smashing
Trust me that kills them
They rely on the one monster on the field, then they pretty much don't have a monster unless they top deck.
You can side skill drain in some decks, Also Fossil dyna is a Anti Special summon.
I side one, because i cant afford another yet till next month. Also, Cybers as everyone knows.
Why because GBs cant run over 2100 attack monsters, unless they contact and have the upper hand. I've played GBs for a while now. So I kinda knows what kills me. Gorz and Trag do nothing to them. Soif they cant kill the trago, its a free monster for you.

I find them useless..
I use Quarantine against Agents. They Can Not run it over........ unless they drop honest or dark hole or book, but whats the chances? They'd waste a card.

yeah the tins do come out soon so maybe ill throw in a random tech for now
