Safe Zone VS Counter Traps

I know I am a judge and all.. But this ruling hasn't been completely clarified to me...

If I safe zone a Herald of Perfection. I negate with it and they chain a counter trap card, (Chariot, Infernity Barrier, Magatama, Etc.)
Would Herald of Perfection be destroyed Or safe due to safe zone..?
I have heard to different rulings and I want to make sure one of them is true..
Don't want to give bad rulings or bad advice in the future.

Herald will not be destroyed but its effect's activation will be negated

I thought here depends on what the Counter Trap Card says? Like if you negate Herald with Magatama when Herald is about to negate Safe Zone, Magatama will destroy Herald when it resolved because Safe Zone's not yet resolved.

he doesn't say that herald is about to negate safe zone, he said he is already equipped with it

also, why would anyone negate his own safe zone^^
(really, there is no point for someone to equip a zafe zone to an opponents monster except by chaining it to mst^^)

Wait Im confused. Your negating Safe Zone?

Oh, I misread here. I thought Herald is gonna negate Safe Zone.

there is another reason if opponent has a power tool dragon ....to prevent opponent from using equips on it
