Can you use Crystal Beast Emerald Tortoise's effect from the spell/trap area?

No. A monster card can only use it's effect while it's in the Monster Card Zone unless it says it has some effect that can only be played while it's in the Spell/Trap Zone.

If Aklys is destroyed by MST, Heavy Storm, etc. its effect will actived. It won't active its effect if it is destroyed by game mechanic when its host leave the field.

aklys and peacekeeper have very differet conditions to active the effect
