Fortune lady dark and tokens

Ok this should be a basic question. Do tokens trigger effects that read as follows:
"When this card destroys a monster in battle and sends it to the graveyard"

Now I checked the wikai and it clearly states that cards with costs like sending a monster to the graveyard cannot activate from tokens, but I am unsure of destruction triggered effects.

I guess my main issue is with the definition of destroy:
"When a card is destroyed, it is sent to the Graveyard, unless there is an active card effect that says otherwise."http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Destroy

While destroy indicates that a card is sent to the gy a token cannot go to the gy.

I am currently running off a ruling I was told years ago but haven't found since. I was told that tokens are "sent to the gy when destroyed but cease to exist the instant they touch it still triggering destruction effects" I will any open criticism on this as I was told this back during the time when scapegoat was first released.

If someone could please find a more clear ruling or link to to a similar discussion I would greatly appreciate it.

the keyword is graveyard.
token cannot exist except on the field, therefore it won't trigger such effect like FL dark.

Tokens can actually be destroyed but they can't be sent to the grave so you can't activate a card like Fortune Lady Dark or Flamvell Firedog, but you can activate a card like Victory Viper XX03 or Cyberdark Keel.

Yes, and even if the destroyed monster is removed from play the effect doesn't activate.

Thank you all. After reading the ruling I thought that may be the case I just wanted to make sure.
